Introduction to gas appliances and refrigeration

Your instructors

Taught by people who do this for a living.

Over 20 years of repair experience between them, and licensed instructors for the refrigeration introduction. They teach what actually fails in the field and how to fix it safely, not just what's in a manual.

Who it's for

  • DIY. You want to fix your own appliances, or look after a rental property, and stop paying for every service call.
  • Career-oriented. You want a trade. Successful candidates who are interested in a career may be offered an apprenticeship.
  • Refresher for service techs. You already work on appliances and want a structured refresher on safety, diagnostics and the main appliance types.

Questions

Do I need experience?+

No. We start with electrical fundamentals and safety, then work through one appliance at a time. Technicians who already work on appliances use it as a structured refresher.

Do I need my own tools?+

No. Tools are provided in class, and every student leaves with a welcome package: a textbook, a workbook, a multimeter and a tool kit.

Is it safe?+

Safety comes first: day one is electrical fundamentals and safety. Instructors supervise every practical session.

Does this qualify me to work on gas or refrigeration systems?+

No. Day 11 is an introduction to gas appliances and refrigeration. Working on gas or refrigerant systems in Ontario requires separate licensing, and we'll explain what that involves.

Will I get a job?+

We can't promise one. Successful candidates who are interested in a career may be offered a place in our apprenticeship program and, from there, a job with RS Solutions.

Will I get a certificate?+

Yes. Everyone who completes the workshop receives a certificate of completion.

How do I pay?+

Tuition is $1,999 plus HST for the six-week term. Apply below, and we'll contact you to confirm your seat and arrange payment. Nothing is charged when you apply.

Where is it?+
